Visitor Comments: Hello, I came across your site a good while ago and was amazed how much work you have done on the WW1 project. My wife and I have two relations on your site we are researching amongst others in our family tree. We recently went to find their graves (they are both named on the war memorial at Christ Church and the Civic hall). My family member is William Challinor(48497 private, Lancashire Fusiliers killed 19.4.1918. aged 19 buried in Mont-Bernenchon British Cemetery ,France)My wifes family member was William Price(Royal Engineers,60185 driver, killed 15.8.1918. He is laid to rest at Bleue-Maison British Cemetery France. These two brave men/boys were both from Ellesmere Port families. At the time of war the Challinors lived in Meadow Lane and the Prices lived in Vale Road in Ellesmere Port, there are still at the present time Challinors and Prices living in Ellesmere Port. Both the WW1 sites we visited were very well looked after, clean, tidy and well maintained. Also at Mont-Bernanchon we signed a visitor book and were amazed to see other previous notes from visitors including some from bromborough, Wirral and one from Ellesmere Port. We also passed (without looking for them) another two British WW1 cemetries, it hits home how many people actually died and these were only relatively small cemetries. We intend to return and view again after more family research maybe later in the year. |
