Visitor Comments: Ron, I had to go back to where you and I played hockey the other day. Well it started with a cry. Yet I remember the good times we had there. How many fights did you and I get in and end up sitting in the locker room. Oh by the way the have not changed. You where my hockey coach ,my brother and best friend back then. We worked at Water view together and the trouble we caused. It brought back the time we got in a fight and ran out with our skates on into the car being chased by the parents of the other team. Ron I will never forget you and I growing up together and how close we were. I wish I could go back to the days of hockey in the garage, football in the back and baseball against the camp up the road. We never stopped always playing some sport.I miss you and wish you could be back Love Jimmy.

Ron and I have been friends since we met at Dutchess Community College(around 1975).  I will miss him greatly.  My love and condolences to all of his great family.  Enough really can't be said about what a great person Ron was; love of family, integrity, intelligence, loyalty, citizenship, sense of humor.  Ronski, I'll miss you very much buddy!

Visitor Comments: Uncle Ronnie was one of a kind. He was someone very special. I know me and my little brother loved him very much and miss him. He was always there for my prom, graduation, and even to come visit me at Quinnipiac to catch a hockey game with me. He could always makes us laugh. I remember just before going back to school after winter break he and aunt Carol Ann came over and he was showing us pictures online of the fire he had went to a couple days before. He was always taking us to baseball games and loved it. I feel special to have had him as my uncle. He was someone who was a part of our lives and I know we all miss him very much. I know you are looking down upon now and will always be our angel.

I Love and Miss you Uncle Ronnie

I can't believe it's been one week since his death.  Everything has been such a blur and it's so strange to finally realize he's not coming back.  At times I feel sad, lonely and even angry that he was taken from us, but I just try to remind myself of how lucky I was to have known him.  It's difficult to put my feelings into words, but I'll try.

My Uncle Ronnie was truly a saint.  No matter what the circumstance, he could always put a smile on my face.  He gave everything he had to help others.  I still, to this day, don't understand how he fit so much into his schedule.  He put his all into his job at IBM, played hockey like a crazy man and dedicated much of his time to the Scarborough Engine Company.  You could always rely on him to be there.  I'll always remember how good it made me feel to see him at  my sporting and school events, proms, etc. during my childhood and high school years.  Going away to college was especially tough for me, and he was always there to comfort me and make me feel better.  Our family vacations were always that much more fun because he was there.  I could talk to him about anything, and he'd listen and give the best advice anyone could give.  I'll take what I learned from him to my grave.

Although he was taken from us much too early, I still feel his presence.  Every time I think of him and start to cry, I know he's telling me, "It's OK Rach."  That goofy smile of his just warms my heart.  Even seeing him in the hospital and during the wake, I couldn't help but picture him smiling and laughing.

I have such a different understanding of life now.  Uncle Ronnie lived life the to fullest and seemed to be able to turn every situation he encountered into a good and meaningful one.  I can only hope and try to live the way he did.  I feel truly blessed to have had him as part of my family.  He is our guardian angel now, and I know he is looking out for each and every one of us.  Although he is physically gone, he lives on in my heart and everything that surrounds me.  I will always be here for my Aunt Carol Ann and Chris no matter what.

I'll love you forever Uncle Ronnie.  You're my angel.

Ronnie was the man that anyone could turn to when you needed a second opinion.  He brought a smile to your face when you were sad and made you laugh when we needed to just have a break from all the hard work.  To anyone who met him, he left a profound impact, whether it was on the ice or off of it.

I have known Ronnie all of my life and I am happy that I have known such a great man.  It's hard to believe that everytime I come home to the meetings I won't see Ronnie there laughing and smiling.  His love of community always made me smile because he was always trying to make the community better.  I think by just being him, Ronnie made the community better.

I will always remember that the greatest compliment that I ever recieved was given to me when Ronnie was Captain.  It was after the Tanker Fire, it was the first meeting after that.  Ronnie was talking about how great we were all doing and he said that even though we were all tired we still needed to get the hose back on the truck so we can get it back to the main house to wash it off and he said that he was proud of the young guys and myself for just dropping what we had been doing before to get the 1 1/2" hose back on the truck even if it was not the neatest in the world.  He smiled and laughed at the fact that he could not have been more proud becuase we were all tired but we kept working hard.  Ronnie had made my day when he told me that, because I was sooo tired after that night that I don't think I recovered till the weekend.

When he played Santa this year he was great.  Even when I threw a snow ball at him aiming for my brother.  Ronnie thought it was funny that no matter what he would get something to eat and drink at my house especially when it was cold.  It was great to see that the community would come out to see the firefighters dressed up in the cold with Santa throwing lollipops and dog biscuits.  Ronnie as happy because he was making others happy.

Now that he is gone.  I am even more proud to have known Ronnie for as long as I have.  He was more than just a firefighter, or a hockey player.  He was a true team player that made sure that everyone got the chance to do something that made them feel special.  He gave everyone a fair chance.

I miss you Ronnie.

Visitor Comments: Ron was the kind of person that you meet once in a lifetime. Everyone that came in contact with him had something great to say about his personality. Ron was the strongest leader I have ever had the privilege to meet. No person could grab the attention of a crowd like Ron could. When he spoke everyone listened, because it was an opportunity to learn from a truly great man.

I have many great memories with Ron, which range from serious to comical. Ron was my go to guy for firematic knowledge. He mentored me and many other new memebers so that we could be proficient. Even though he took the fireground and training situations seriously, he was always able to keep the mood light. His bottomless pit of jokes and his knack for ball-breaking always cheered every one up.

Aside from being the best firefighter I have ever had the honor of knowing and serving with, Ron was a great person. There were so many instances were Ron has helped me and others just because he felt it was the right thing to do. Whether it was teaching me how to properly buffer a car, or when he gave me a T.V. for college. I am extremely saddened by his passing, but I am truly thankful that I knew Ron and called him friend.

Visitor Comments: My heart goes out to the entire BMFD family and Ron's family. As a former member, I only meet Ron once during the funeral for past Chief Piazza. Ron greeted on the ramp as if I had never left and to my surprise knew who I was. I knew then he was a special bread.

To lay a brother to rest is never easy, but the strength and spirit of friendship made within the department are strong and span the globe. Members near and far feel your pain as the days past. Reach out to them and shed a tear if you need. We are all looking out for each other no matter on the fire ground or not.Know this that once a firefighter always a firefighter and if you think Ron's not watching think again.

Rest easy my brother.

With sympathy
