Visitor Comments: I loved growing up in the Heery House - except for the hundreds of bats that lived in the attic - working at the Clarksville Cafe, cheerleading, and playing in the band. I even remember the sunken band room in the old high school before it was torn down. My bothers and sisters and I made a lot of forts on the empty lot there, went to the carnival on Pioneer Days, and found my sister there when she ran away across the street from our house. I enjoyed feasting on morel mushrooms we found in Heery State Park and toasting marshmallows over campfires there. I remember riding bikes all over town, the April (1971?) the snow was so deep it drifted over our garage and we spent a week of snow days tunneling through it, and celebrating the Bicentennial downtown.

Visitor Comments: My husband & I are relocating back to Clarksville in November. I was scanning the city web site for ordinances, especially pertaining to pets, and I found nothing. Must I go to city hall to get a copy of all city ordinances?

Visitor Comments: My name is Susan Spencer Ball and I am the daughter of Ardith Copeland Spencer Clark and granddaughter of Ira and Lucretia Bolin Copeland. My great grandmother was a Bolin and I am related to Neil and Mavis Bolin. I have traveled many times as a child by train with my family to visit my relatives in Clarksville and I have many wonderful memories. The reunions at Heery Woods park were especially nice as I was able to visit many friends and relatives. I will again be visiting Clarksville on June 10th of 2013 and will enjoy seeing the changes and the things that bring back so many wonderful memories.

Visitor Comments: I had surgery last week at the V A Medical center in Iowa City . Upon release I recieved a hand made quilt from the New Life Lutheran Church. I would like to send by thanks to all those who had a part of this. This is just another reason why it is so special to live in Iowa, a place where people care about people.
