Guestbook of Amy

Let's hear some of YOUR thoughts on the books on this list! Please, be specific in criticism (not just "you suck" and even in praise (so I know you're really paying attention); and don't be crude. Crudeness is a waste of words. Unlike random lists of things no one cares about but me.

Visitor Comments: Amy-  You must, must try at least one of the Hardy Boys books.  They are equally good to the Nancy Drews, with some fun boy twists.  And yes, I know they're boys, but they're cool boys!!

2 more quick comments, as I just noticed Dahl and Keene on the list... I just bought a cookbook by Roald Dahl's wife with many of the gross/yummy foods mentioned in his books in it (including Bruce Bogtrotter's cake).  It's very good. (The book, that is, not the cake, though I imagine the cake is pretty good too...)  You'll have to see the book sometime.  You have seen the movie, right??

Also, have you not read the Hardy Boys series? If not, please do, as you're in for a big treat.  Franklin W. Dixon is Carolyn Keene.  (Both are pseudonyms, though I don't remember her real name.)

Admin Reply: I have NOT read the Hardy Boys, and I thought about that odd fact as I was making the list. My excuse as a child was They were BOYS and I did not CARE about BOYS. My excuse as an adult is I've been too busy reading other junk to be drawn back to my old passion of series mysteries. Maybe I'll get around to it sometime!

Visitor Comments: Amy, you are a crazy woman!!  (Wish I had that much free time...)  I didn't read the whole list, or I would undoubtedly be suggesting things like "why don't you read..." or "you really must read..." or "I forgot about that book!" or "I can't believe you haven't read..."  Do e-mail and tell me what else you've been up to besides this very small project... I miss you!

Hey...awesome list.  I was expecting to find each book's dewey decimal number along with it, though.

Have you ever read "Clan of the Cave Bear?" It's a little different, not a fantasy, but it's a good read and a nice series.  Well thought out and researched.  I enjoy it anyway.

Admin Reply:

Well, they're all fiction, so the call numbers will all be FIC first- initials-of-author's-last-name, and maybe with a j or a YA in front of the FIC.

I have never read Clan of the Cave Bear, although it is one of my mom's favorite books too. I don't know why I haven't.
