Visitor Comments: Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I am in negotiations to purchase a home that has a pool that, if I get the house, I will have removed.
Thanks again! |

| Visitor Comments: This is a great site. We are looking to purchase our first home, and we really like one that has a pool. However, we don't want a pool because it is a liability and expense. We like the house, and thought we'd get rid of the pool and expand the fenced yard and lawn - which is much more desirable to us. Your site makes it clear to me that it is no small undertaking to properly eliminate a swimming pool, and I thank you for it. Unfortunately, eliminating that house as a possibility means we have more looking to do! |

| Visitor Comments: Thanks for putting up the site. Due to the ever increasing costs and new allocation tier allotment of water and electrical in Southern California, I am considering shutting the pool down for good. With very similar reasoning as you, this pool is a money pit. |

| Visitor Comments: We have just completed the removal of our 25 year old inground pool. (10/8/09) We are thrilled beyond words that the "money pit" is gone. Pool was needing new steps which meant new liner with an estimate of close to 10,000.
Your website was verry helpful when we were trying to decide what to do. Our cost, (Southern Missouri) was $3,200. which we figured was about what it cost us to run the pool for a year. My insurance and property taxes went down and we feel that when we do sell we would have a larger market of buyers and a better chance of getting our price w/o the old pool.
Thank you for your website,

| Visitor Comments: We were considering buying a home that had an inground pool and this helped us decide if we wanted to purchase the home. Decided not to since we did not want to deal with work of refilling. It was nice you made your experience available for others.

| Visitor Comments: I have considerable experience with filling in a swimming pool with dirt. We simply knocked the bottom out, and filled it. But my pool was about 1/3 the size of many home pools, and I doubt it took more than 5 yards of dirt to fill it to the top. The contractor and his two helpers merely wheelbarrowed the dirt from my front yard and filled the thing.
I have been very happy with the drainage in my filled-in pool. There's a little maintenance. After two or three years, I had to put a little more dirt in, because of sinking and run-off, but no big deal.
The space continues to evolve -- where it once held perennials, now it's a vegetable garden!
You are welcome to email me, or simply visit my blog to see the ongoing progress. |

| Visitor Comments: Your site convinced me to yank mine out of my Tucson yard. My kids have grown and I use it 5 times a year. Done. Lots of space for equipment, but what did you do with the debris? I have contacted several places that will drop off a 20 to 40 yard dumpster, but all stipulate no concrete. Also, what kind of soil compaction method was used. |
