I was deeply saddened to stumble across the news that Chris was no longer with us. Maybe Chris had forgotten me but I never forgot meeting him almost 40 years ago. It was 1972 at QAC in Birmingham where I met the big lad. We were doing an engineering course with the legendary Mr Jaigo.  By reading the comments on this site, it is clear to me that Chris never really changed. He was always great fun to be around and had a wicked sense of humour although it was tinged with a wee bit of innocence at that time. After I left the college I returned to Edinburgh and never heard about Chris again until today. The memories came flooding back of a time in my life that was enriched by meeting Chris. I am so glad that Chris had such a great life and a loving wife who obviously thought the world of him. Today is my wedding anniversary, so tonight I will also be raising a glass of whisky to the Big Man, Thank you for the memories Chris.

Ay oop our Chris mate, well what can I say, on the fourth birthday you would have had with us, if you were still here....

Well theres good news and theres more good.  Not only has TAFN gone from strength to strength just like you wanted it to, with nearly 200 members now, but not only that we've got a brilliant server now, and some of the best people you could meet in our thriving online community.

If it wasn't for you mate TAFN would not be here, and the camraderie and spirit of support you started has well and truly carried on.   We've had our first big get together called the CAMEO weekend, we've given all our members a free pen drive, we're doing auctions and race night every year now.  We helped out Jilly Bones when disaster struck and we've now set up a new Emergency Lifeline Fund for TAFN members in need.

You'll know all this of course, from where you are!  But what else can I say, other than you done us proud.

Time flies and we've all got to make the best of it, so glad to have known one who had such a difference as you did!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you mate.    Leon Gilbert

Birthday Memorie, 31st March 2007 for My Chris

I think of you with Love today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll never part. God has you in his keeping I have you in my heart.

Happy Birthday! Chris, from your loving wife Christine x x ( I miss you so much you'll never know how much)

Visitor Comments: My sincere condolences to Christine Cant, to the Cant family on their loss of Christopher Cant.

Chris, when I first knew that he was going to be my teacher in broadcasting on FTP Radio, I felt scared.  That big voice, what if he got angry with me since, I had another person trying to make me learn this hobby and I just could not understand what he said or did.

I remember my first lesson like it was yesterday when I said to Chris, (I may be a little slow, but I can assure you that I am not a dummy, hahaha, at least not a complete one).  He laughed, and that was one thing that got me to trust in Chris' ability to teach me and so he did.

I know when we lost Chris, I felt like someone had taken something from me.

I know what death is because I had come from a country that has its share of
violence, and death.

After a few hours of sulking about Chris' passing, I thought to myself, Chris wasn't the man who would allow anyone to be sad, he would make you laugh with one of his jokes.

I will remember Chris with that huge voice, the man who knew how to help me
when no one could, he encouraged me when I erred, and his words (go on hugga
go on!  you can do it)

I won't be ashamed when I say this, I love you as a bro Dear Chris

Rest in peace buddy

Chris is a person that once you meet you never forget him.  I miss our chats about football and sports in general.  If you ever needed help he was the one to go to.  I am so glad I met you.
