| Visitor Comments: What a fascinating website - well done Rod. My Mum and Dad had a caravan on the long campsite between the railway and Pensarn beach during the '50s and early '60s, It was owned by a Mr Pugh. We used to stay there most weekends during the summers and all 6 weeks of the school summer holidays Dad used to enjoy sea fishing and "fished the tide in" from the beach, I can still taste the fresh plaice that he caught. We children used to collect driftwood and the mothers, fathers and children used to gather round bonfires in the evenings. Dad built a sand yacht that we raced up and down along the beach when the tide was out, a bit dodgy in the middle of summer when there were lots of people on the beach and we didn't always have full control. (photos) I learned to drive on the stony track between Pensarn and the caravan site, most of the fathers let their children drive along there. There was quite a weekend community from Manchester, Liverpool, Stoke on Trent, Chester etc. that met up each weekend. I think we had more friends from those places than in Chester where we lived. Saturday night treat was for us children (ages about 9 to 14) to walk up to Abergele for 3d bags of chips and walk back again eating them. - Great days. |

| Visitor Comments: What a fascinating site. My grandad, Thomas Owen Jones, born 1900 lived in Llandulas. The census notes he lived in 6 Gadlas Cottages. Tracking back I think the picture on this site of Elizabeth Jones, born 1840, sitting outside the cottage must have been my grandad's grandmother, my great, great grandmother. |

| Visitor Comments: Hello, I have a silver case from 1895. Given to a A. M. Campbell from Dennis and Barry 1895. On the back is written Arnold House Llanddulas N Wales This case was used for tie fishing lures. Some lures still in case. Any info on any of above would be appresiated. With thanks. I could send a picture if you have an e address to send it to.
Thanks, Wayne |

| Visitor Comments: Excellent website and very interesting !
The old Kneeshaw Lupton jetty - A bit sad to see a Llanddulas landmark disapearing recently but had been derelict since the last shipment used it in 1997.
Anyway, Keep up the good work !
Regards,
Alan Roberts. |

| Visitor Comments: My grand father and grand mother came from the village. I spent all my childhood summers there. My father would often play the piano in THE VALENTINE when we were there. as kids we would stand at the open door and listen to the choir as they sank ,Memory...Merys? stood nearest door singing his heart out ..with his EYES CLOSED ...he had the words written on the inside of his eyelids.. mam would tell us.
Grandad ELLIS WILLIAMS worked in the quarry as a lad then went to work on the railway in Liverpool.
Grandma MIRRIAM EVANS worked in the ARNOLD SCHOOL as a servant until they married.
Grandad lived in the GADLAS down behind the Valentine.
There is so much more I want to know about their early days so please share it with me if you can.. nosta |

Thumbs up on the site Rod and co., brilliant!
However, is there any way of being able to mark the photos and enlarge them? I'm going blind slowly and am far to vain to wear glasses all the time
Anyway, I digress, I just wanted to say thank you to all who took the trouble to vote for me recently in the Poll for a book deal.
I won, hands down and it was all down to people like you who helped me without even knowing who I am.
I sincerely appreciated it.
The book should be out in June, July sometime, in paper and on Kindle and I'm really excited about it, as is my whole family in Old Colwyn.
Thank you Rod for putting it up and thank you to anyone who did vote.
All the best.
Reg. |

Dear Administrator: Thank you for your kind offer to look around the churchyard for me. I just now saw it on line. Very much appreciated. I know there was a Thomas Garner, and there are others. I'll have to look for the other names. I put my email address here, in written out form, to avoid spammers. Best Regards, Elissa O |
