I am from the US and am going to be moving to Medan to teach English in a month. Not sure where I'll be living, but I'll be teaching at Sekolah Djuwita (http://www.sekolah-djuwita.com/). I'm hoping to find a Christian church nearby- any suggestions?

Thanks!

Visitor Comments: Imagine my surprise at finding this web page. I attended the protestant church in Sungai Gerong when Rev. Day was preaching. His daughter Vivian was in my class at school. I remember that every sunday evening, we used to give Rev. Day a ride back to the ferry after church. What a wonderful trubute to his life!!

( Sorry in bahasa Indonesia ), 1962 - 1974 ( kinder
garden up to Senior High School ) saya bersekolah di Methodist English School Medan, Jl. Hang Tuah Medan, saya pernah bertemu dengan Rev. Wesley, saya

Visitor Comments: As a "missionary's kid" born in Chengtu in January 1945 of C.I.M. parents I enjoyed reading of your experiences.  I reached your site while searching on the Marine Lynx, the ship that took my father from Shanghai to San Francisco in 1947.  He is Australian and I live in Perth Western Australia.

Visitor Comments: Ruth Ingram, my husband's aunt, born in China to medical missionaries, graduate of Oberlin, kept photo albums and a memoir detailing her time with UNRRA in China from 1945-1950 as nursing education consultant. Today I am copying her report of April 1946, visiting Kalgan to discover how the Communists there were distributing milk sent through the Nationalist blockade. She also was in Chungking area when Rev. Day returned with his bride. Could two Oberlin folk be kept apart when working so close? Your site is excellent.

Visitor Comments: Dear Jack and Family,
Very sorry about your dad. I lost my mother, Eileen Anne Feeney-Day in 2001, and I know what it is like to loose a parent! Luckily, you have a lot of faith. Without faith, there would have been no way to get through the grief. What a very nice tribute. All the best (a possible cousin Maureen Day Moore

To the family of Rev. Wesley Day:

It is with sadness that I send you our family's sympathy on the death of your father/grandfather. My father, Earnest Walker, who died last year often told me about Wesley's dedicated service as a missionary in Medan, Indonesia and elsewhere. We always enjoyed reading his newsy Christmas letters.

My dad and Wesley were contemporaries, (cousins related through both the Days and Walkers, as many people are in the Mt. Airy/Browningsville area) Your father was born a few years later than my dad.

I was grateful that Wesley could participate in the funeral of my mother, Irene Walker, at Olin Molesworth Funeral Parlor in Damascus MD in 1993 and that Wesley's son, Rev. Jackson Day, could conduct the funeral of my father, Earenst Walker,  in 2004 in the same place. Family relationships were very important to my father, and are becoming more so to me.

I wish you God's peace and hope over the years you will enjoy many dear memories of Wesley and Ruth Lydia.

   With Love,  Elizabeth Walker Gill
