| Visitor Comments: Well done Anton! I've just returned from my first real train trip/vacation in over thirty years and was online looking for souvenirs after the fact when I found your site. Took the Coast Starlight from Kelso, WA to L.A., Surfliner to Santa Ana, visited family for two days and returned to Kelso. Your description was very informed and pretty well matched my own experience, the food is still good. Keep up the good work! |

| Visitor Comments: Very well written. Was alot of fun to read about your Amtrak trip, although I have to disagree with your opinion on the food. I've yet to have good food on any Amtrak train. Probably one of the worst steaks Ive ever had was on our last trip on the California Zephyr.
Anyway. keep up the great work. Loved reading your website. It was incredible!! |

| Visitor Comments: Awesome job kid!!! Enjoyed your report very much. We are in Chemult as I type this (but we drove). Started our trip in Seattle and will end up in Oakland to fly home to Long Beach. Our travels will include stops in Crater Lake, Eureka & Napa Valley. We have traveled by train to Paso Robles and have taken the train to The Grand Cayon. All great trips! Keep up the good work. Cheers. |

Visitor Comments: Anton, Loved your April '06 Starlight photo/travelogue. My wife and I live in the midwest and traveled back to Sacramento, (her old stomping grounds)to visit an aunt and uncle last September. I love the California Zephyr and look to make it part of a longer rail vacation in the future. I will definitely tie it with a run on the Starlight, you make it all seem good. Hope this note finds you healthy and happy today. Leaving the site rating setting at it's defalt of ten! Mark
P.S. Wife and I will be heading east in March (3rd) Mount Pleasant, Ia we catch the eastbound California Zephyr to Chicago, in Chicago we catch the Capitol Limited to Washington DC, at DC we catch a southbound Crescent to Charlotte, NC to see our daughter and son in law. Our daughter is a good sport and had no problem picking us up at 2 am at the Charlotte train station! Never been in a veiwliner sleeper, looking forward to it! |

| Visitor Comments: Thank you so much for your insight. We are planning a trip on the Coast Starlight next year. We will be traveling from Los Angeles to Seattle (roundtrip) I took this trip about 15 years ago. I traveled from Los Angeles to Montreal, Quebec via the Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, Lakeshore Limited, and the Maple Leaf. I did'nt have alot of money then and had to travel coach. But, I really enjoyed myself and the scenery. I must say, I am a little concerned about the state of Amtrak service these days. But, For some reason I keep coming back. I'm not sure what to make of the "simplified dining" especially when I compare it to the way things use to be back in the days when everything was made from scratch. By the way, I'm 44 years old. We really need to get congress to make a real investment in Long Haul train service and restore train travel to it's former glory. It's great to know that there are younger people out there that have an interest in trains. So, there may be hope after all.
Cheers

Visitor Comments: Anton, thanks for posting your report! My husband and I are traveling on the coast starlight from Chemult in a few weeks for the very first time. We'er on our way to San Francisco, so we'll be on the train to Emeryville.
It was great to see the pictures and hear how things will go, so we kind of know what to expect. |
