Visitor Comments: I study medicine and came across this website in revision. It's important to see the real life implications rather than just the genetics of it.

Hi something very similar happened to me in 2008,Thank God I had 3 normal boys prior to this bad experience,I carried  longer to 8 months with a 2 and a half pound baby , she was very pretty ,but had the hole in the heart diagnosis like your baby,I was diagnosed very late on at 7 months with trisomy and it was a huge shock.I must say it has put me of having any more babys as iI think im too old  at 42,but this is just one of those things,  as my boys are very healthy thank God.If any one is in the same place finding out you are carrying a trisomy baby please dont worry too much and just trust in God xoxo

My wife and I recently found out that our son to be has Trisomy 18. I'm not really sure how to talk to her about it, because I am stationed in Italy, and she lives in Indiana.

I would love any advice anyone may have. My email is dhardegen@gmail.com

Thanks!

Visitor Comments: I was expecting our first child and was very excitied until I started having some bleeding.  I went to the dr. and had an ultrasound done.  The tech didnt give us any information, but let us hear the heartbeat, printed a couple pictures and sent us on our way.  I had an appointment 2 days later with the dr.  he said the pictures were too small to see any real detail, but the baby was only measuring at 6 wks.  I was 8 wks.  He asked us to return 5 days later for another ultasound which he would perform.  When the time came we went in and he had a very serious look on his face.  I will never forget him saying "I hate to be the barer of bad news but this baby does not have a heartbeat.  Infact this is a very abnormal pregnancy.  This baby has trisomy 18."  We were devastated.  Our first child had died.  That night I went in for a D&C.  It was the hardest day of our lives.  My baby will never be forgotten.  We have decided to name him Tyler although we don't know the true sex. It has only been 5 days, and a very long 5 days since the horriable day, but your story gives me comfort to know we are not the only ones.  We will never understand, but will always believe that Tyler was our blessing from god, and can not wait until the day we get to meet him in heaven!

Visitor Comments: My husband and I were just informed that at 18 weeks, our son is very likely to have Trisomy 18. Reading your story gives us a different view that only a parent can have. Blessings to you and your family.
