| Visitor Comments: Are there any Wallens still to be found in Rockingham County? My 2nd greatgrandfather David Wallen and his brother (cousin?) Michael Wallen might have come from this part of NC, both born (we think) abt. 1795.
Anyone of the family Salisbury (Saulsberry) still a resident? Can anyone provide a location for a village or town of Salisbury mentioned under a listing in the 1800 census?

Mary born 1805 N.C. married in N.c. left to settle in Russell co Va. by 1847. Is not the Wm and Mary Nelson married in 1832 in Stokes Co N.C.
Ch born in N.C. are maybe (1) ELiza , (2) Wm Harrison Hughes 1832 (3) John M. Hughes about 1834

| Visitor Comments: I am researching the early Harrison's of Rockingham County. I have a completely documented line back to William and Ellinor (Nelly) Harrison. William died in Rockingham County between 1826. -1829. Ellinor was still living in 1831 when she sold property on Town Creek. I am trying to connect William to an older William living on Wolf Island Creek. Known sons John, Nathaniel, and Jesse. My William had sons John, William, Zachariah, Starling, and Landon. Landon born 1790 was the youngest. He was my gggrandfather. |

| Visitor Comments: Looking for Lucy Gatewood's family. Eldest daughter, Elizabeth Gatewood, married BRANN from Rockingham County, NC. All of Lucy's children left NC when she died - all except Elizabeth who was married to Mr. Brann. We are wondering if Lucy Gatewood is buried near the family Brann.
The year Elizabeth was born: 1803
The year Lucy was born: 1773-1775 approx.
We believe Lucy to be a widow after 1815, as she is listed Head of Household in 1820 and 30 census in NC/ Rockingham County. Looking also for the missing Mr. Gatewood. We do not know his first name, nor are we sure of Lucy's maiden name.
Elizabeth's siblings: Freeman, Nickolas, Lucinda, Peter, Stephen Joseph, Washington Osborn GATEWOOD.
All help appreciated. Willing to share what we have. |
