Hi – I wonder whether anyone can help?

ffice ffice" />

I am investigating the history of a vintage motor vessel called “Seran”, designed by Higley Halliday and built by Frank Maynard, Chiswick in 1926. The information pieced together to date is currently posted on the National Historic Ships website: http://www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/ships_register.php?action=ship&id=2367

The first owner was a Charles Regnart based in London (I believe). At some point between 1939 and 1945 Seran was acquired by a Geoffrey B Wright of Belbroughton, Worcs and was, I believe moved to the Rivery Severn, where she remained until the late 1980’s, through a succession of owners: L J O’Connor, R L Griffin, D C Ross, John Guest, R J Fee - all in the Worcestershire region.

I was wondering whether any of these individuals were members of the club and therefore, whether information on Seran or any of the owners were in your records? It would be fascinating to track down any early photo’s also as I am in the process of slowly restoring her.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Colin

Hi,

Nice site and what a cracking location for the club house.

A couple of questions if you dont mind...

I have a Dawncraft 22 moored in Stourport Lower basin, just below the Club.

I was wondering is it possible to visit the club whilst we are in Stourport, and can we be signed in as vistiors.

Two weeks ago, my wife & I cruised upriver past the Campsite and beyond the "End of Navigation" sign & was wondering, just how far could we go Safely, further up river.

Thanks,

Kev Clarke

Visitor Comments: Hi there

I am in the process of researching my family tree. I have disocvered that my ancestor Thomas Beard sailed a Severn Trow for many years with his grandson George Stephan (my g.granfather). Apparently, according to newspaper archives, Thomas was the last of the Severn Bargeman to have lived and died as the retired publican (The General Gordon Inn).

I found your webpage whilst reseraching the Severn Trows and wonder if you could email me any photos you have of this type of vessel?

If you had one of the "William" (which he sailed) that would be of particular interest to me!

Many many thanks in advance. Penny Stephan, Shrewsbury
