| Visitor Comments: Hello,
I have letters and pictures of your father I'll try to scan and email them to you......quite a few letters.
I have just began to go thru the letters but most look to be dated 1930's - 1940's
Even a Tin Photograph taken Nov. 21, 1940 in Fords Greenfield Village. Quality of the Tin Photo is great. |

| Visitor Comments: Thanks for this great information -- I wish there were more (websites) like it. It's great to read about the pioneers of aviation and those golden old days. Of course Lockheed played such a huge role in the development of aviation -- and your father obviously played a large part in that. Thanks for posting this history and your father's story for us to learn and remember. Bob |

Visitor Comments: Carl Squier was my maternal grandfather. He passed away when I was eleven years old in 1968. I remember his laughter and engaging outgoing personality. I know that he was a great aviator and salesman. I don't know why your father did not get the credit he appears due for the sale of aircraft made to England through Lord Beaverbrook. However, I do know that in sales, credit is often given to supervisors and managers of departments due to corporate politics. Even though my maternal grandmother was killed in the Mint Canyon crash of May 16, 1938, I do not think that your father's smart refusal to fly in such a fog would cause his not getting credit for the sale. My grandfather was a WWI ace and a great piolt. He would have been understanding of your father's refusal. I hope that all is well with you and your family. Have a great day!

| Visitor Comments: Eugene: As you know, my Dad Hume Rolfe Earnest (Ernie) flew with your Dad during the Beaverbrook era. At the age of 5 I knew your Dad while we lived in Croydon, England. While my memory doesn't recall specific incidents, reviewing old family photos does provide me with the memories of that time in all of our lives. Keep up the good work and I will send photos ,etc as I find them. Howard Earnest |

| Visitor Comments: Found your site while doing a search on my great uncle, Lockheed test pilot Ralph Virden. No one in my family had ever seen the obituary clipping displayed here, and I was very touched at the kind words everyone seemed to have for him.
The site has a great feel to it. learned a lot.
Thank you,
Robert Bass |

| Visitor Comments: I will preface this message by saying that I have a restricted address book. As mentioned previously, my father was Chief Test Pilot at Lockheed and had the highest regard for Harry Downes. I spoke to my mother yesterday about your web site and she has a vivid recollection of Harry coming to the house often. His face popped into her mind as soon as I mentioned his name. She stated unequivocally that Harry Downes was definately employed as a test pilot for Lockheed and was the chief pilot for Lord Beaverbrook. We also discussed many of the other test pilots with equal admiration for their contributions to aviation. Bless them all. |

| Visitor Comments: A salute to all the pioneers of aviation. What a grand old gang. My father was Chief Test Pilot at Lockheed for many years and nearly all the test pilots came to the house on a regular basis, including Harry Downes. My mother is 94 and living in Hawaii and has a clear recollection of all of them. |
