hi all,
I lived in Kingoonya around 1974-75, as a little girl starting school in 1st year. I resided in a railway house with my parents, Ronald (Boyce) Schulz & Daphne Schulz. My 5 siblings, Allan, Kerry, Coral, Raymond, and Jason as well. From memory, my dad was the ganger at the time, and we often had parties for the 'adults' at our house on Friday & Saturday nights! Also, I fondly remember travelling on the train to Cook for the interschool sports day! Great memories, and I would love to hear from anyone else who remembers me or my family during this time??
cheers, Sue Cowell |

| Visitor Comments: Hi, I was wrapped to find this site. I worked in Kingoonya the first time in 1978 at Woody's store. I then worked at North Well Station 1983 - 1984 and a couple of shearing times as the cook. I worked for the best bosses in the world, Ann-Marie and Tony Pick. The life was hard at times, but always good. The hours were long, but so much fun. We all loved it when Mike McBride used to visit. I can still remember the time he came for a visit, got changed, hopped on a motor bike, headed bush with boys and then took them to the Kingoonya Pub for a drink. A couple of hours after their normal tea time, Mike and the boys arrived back at the homestead. Mike tied a white hanky to a long piece of wood, and waved it through the kitchen door before he and the boys entered.!!!! Mike never asked the boys to do something he wasnt prepared to do himself, and they had the greatest respect for him. I do miss those days... I look forward to the celebrations in 2012... well done everyone. Kind regards Sue. |

| Visitor Comments: Hello All. I travelled with my dad from Ballarat to Ceduna,Googs Lake, through Lake Everard Station, Peter Jacka worked on the station from 1955 to 1961 approx, digging dams etc. We had an awesome experience visiting the station. We stopped briefly at Kingoonya Pub 28-05-2010 for a couple of beers as we had to get to Cooper Pedy for alternator repairs by 5pm. Have to make the trek back there and stay the night. Our journey also included driving through Cooper Creek flood waters on the Birdsville track. ONCE IN A LIFE TIME OPPORTUNITY. |

| Visitor Comments: Whilst listening to ABC radio 891 Sunday 20/6/2010, heard reference to the KINGOONYA Progress Ass and an interview with a member of the Progress Assoc. 1980/81 I visited the publicans at that time, who were John/Jan GASTON and Trevor/Mary GASTON. I piloted many to the pub for race-days, picnic cricket matches in light aircraft. After the radio interview, Ashley WALSH of the ABC mentioned that he had received a phone call from a pilot who was one of 3 that did a fly over of the race meeting. In fact I was one of those. SMITH's were elderly residents, WOODY had the general store, FOX, the local garage. North Well station managed by Bill and Lyn NAPIER (my cousin) I have just found an account by my fellow pilot Alan PATERSON of one of the excersions to KINGOONYA. Jan GASTON now lives at MT PLEASANT, SA and Trevor/Mary GASTON live in ADELAIDE. If you would like some more info on KINGOONYA feel free to contact me on the above e-mail address or phone 0885-662373. Look forward to visiting again |

| Visitor Comments: We had a fantastic visit to Kingoonya. We went out to view the return of Hayabusa spacecraft. Maria and Frosty were fantastic hosts and provided cool beverages and a great meal. The local "celebrities" came out for the event and there was a wonderful mixture of people sitting around the fire. The conversation was both stimulating and entertaining.
I highly recomment a visit to the up and coming little outback town. Rumor has it the golf course will be re-seeded soon and the runway will be lengthend and paved for the jet-set crowd. Frosty is putting in a swimming pool next year to accommodate the high fliers. Get in early on this little piece of "Outback Paradise". |
| Admin Reply: So glad to hear that you had a wonderful time in Kingoonya. I for one can't wait to see a swimming pool in Kingoonya - Frosty we may well hold you to that lol |

| Visitor Comments: I was passing through kingoonya with my family on the eve of 1999, new years eve! our car broke down and we were forced to drive back to kingoonya for help. At the time there was a population of one! the town is amazing, the diner and petrol stations look like people just left suddenly, and there was a car-part graveyard in the back of the town as i recall? was a very helpfull place, a bit creepy, and very historical. |
| Admin Reply: Well the town can now boast a few more residents and if you come through again you can even get a meal or a coldie at the Hotel |
